Starfish Point is a secluded beach about an hour drive from Seven Mile Beach. Visit this place and enjoy holding and taking pictures with a starfish. Just make sure you keep the starfish in the water at all times. Book an excursion with your cruise line or trusted local tour operator and go on a diving adventure. The best place to start this experience at is at Eden rock or Devil’s Grotto diving center. There is a great deal of marine life at Devil’s Grotto and Eden Rock Dive sites including tarpon and reef fish.

But we were given a refund for part of the tour cost and away we set off on our bus tour around the island. It was a really nice tour for someone who doesn’t want to go to the beach or swim. Pure white sand, tranquil turquoise waters dotted with resorts, condos, shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants and every conceivable water sport, make this one of the top beaches in the world.
Shore Excursions or On Your Own
The first you will come across is a very talked about fish market. Immediately after, you will not miss the Cayman Cabana restaurant sign - a great place to have lunch or just a drink on the open deck with wonderful ocean views. But the main attraction is really the Sea Trek Experience on the lower deck of the restaurant - here you can safely and comfortably explore the underwater world with a helmet diving system. At Starfish Point, you can explore a shallow body of water where you will find Red Cushion Sea Stars, renowned for their striking red and orange colors. Dolphin Discovery offers the opportunity to interact with dolphins in one of their pools. A photographer is also available on-site to capture memorable moments with the dolphins, though this service comes with an additional fee.
Spend an hour or two and you will leave with a greater appreciation for the delicate balance of nature. The “Kittiwake” is an ex-US Navy ship which was sunk on purpose off of Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach in 2011. Enjoy exploring this sunken ship, and keep an eye out for marine life hiding in the nooks and cracks. Grand Cayman dive workers are world-class divers and will ensure the experience is fun, easy and interesting. Note that there is some boat traffic, so be careful when snorkeling around the area. At this dive site, you’ll find a wide range of animals, such as fire worms, shrimp, eels, stingrays, and even turtles. The sunken ship’s depth varies from roughly 15 ft (4.5 m) at its shallowest to 65 ft (19.8 m) at its deepest. Seasoned divers have the chance to explore all five decks of the USS Kittiwake. The USS Kittiwake is a former US Navy submarine rescue vessel that was deliberately sunk to create an artificial reef and dive site.

Follow the stairs down to the ocean and you will see places where the waves shoot up through the rocks. That being said, you can definitely things to do when you visit if you want to come for a longer stay. We have been lucky enough to visit Grand Cayman as cruisers and also for a 5-day, long weekend trip. For our long weekend, we stayed in a VRBO and had a nice little babymoon in Grand Cayman that wasn’t too expensive. Catch them at the bus station next to the library on Edward street.
Pet Stingrays in Stingray City – Stingray City is a shallow sand bar near the top of the Grand Cayman lagoon. It’s a perfectly safe and harmless experience for tourists and the stingrays seem to seek out the attention. We didn’t tour these because we had to just saw the caves in the Turks & Caicos. If you are staying on the island, the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park is another nice stop. Every day at 11 am, they have a tour of their Blue Iguana Sanctuary where they are working hard to save the Cayman Blue Iguanas from endangerment. The cost of the tour was only $20 when we were there and every penny goes to the blue iguanas.
Please remember that taking starfish out of the water is against the law, and it’s advisable not to handle them. Keep in mind that accessing this dive site requires a boat excursion due to the extensive distance and regular ship traffic. You can choose from various favorites on the menu, like fried rice, soup, chicken wings, seafood, and chop suey. West Shore Center is another excellent mall that houses a variety of shops, resorts, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants.
Don’t worry about the weather, the island just like most Caribbean islands in the west experiences a wet summer and a dry winter. Services offered at the establishment include saunas, massages, and facials including oxygen facials. Enjoy royal pampering from the warm and friendly staff at the center. There is a raised boardwalk at the site that gives you a better view of the area. Use Hell Road and drive approximately 100 yards past Hell Gas Station to get there.
Located a 25-minute drive (17 km/10.5 miles) east of the George Town port, the White House is an exclusive private mansion offering all-inclusive service to its visitors. The mansion dates from the colonial period and is a perfect beach escape for those who want to enjoy privileged treatment and exclusive service. One of the major attractions on the island is the Grand Cayman Turtle Farm (Turtle Centre), situated in the West Bay district, a 20-minute drive (13 km/8 miles) north of the port.
We really enjoyed our location at the Kaibo Yacht Club and our only complaint is that it was an hour drive to get back to Georgetown for some of our activities. For our cruise shore excursion in Grand Cayman, we booked a bundle tour with Carnival called something like “The Best of Grand Cayman”. The tour promised a submarine ride, and then a bus tour around the island, stopping at Hell on Earth, the Turtle Farm, and the Tortuga Rum factory (all discussed above). Sadly, the winds were very strong the day we visited Grand Cayman and the submarine tour was cancelled.
